Cognitive ability and motor performances in the elderly

Background/Aim. Aging entails a wide range of cognitive processes that are not independent one another. It leads to changes in physical-motor characteristics and sometimes disability. The aim this study was examine the association between multiple performances elderly subjects their abilities. Method. included 98 participants (60+) (16 males 82 females). Cognitive abilities were assessed by Montreal Assessment (MoCA)/Serbian version, physical measures Senior Fitness Test with its five subtests, supplemented Walking Speed Test. Results. Several MoCA items demonstrated relatively low variability, i.e., they proved be too easy for most participants. exhibited lowest performance on memory relating other domains, followed executive functions, visuospatial skills, attention, concentration, working highest temporal spatial orientation domains. Executive functions language correlated significantly strength. Agility dynamic balance, lower- upper-body strength, aerobic endurance moderately positively. Conclusion. This underlines positive correlation fitness level emphasizes importance especially those type subjects. Clinicians should consider function when dealing functioning improvement elderly. designing efficient exercise pro-grams achieve maximal somatic effects is emphasized.
